Pamper Your Skin with an at Home Facial Massage

Pamper Your Skin with an at Home Facial Massage

Japanese Facial Massage — Luxury Spa Treatment at Home

Experience the effects of a spa treatment from the comfort of your own home with a uniquely Japanese beauty essential, the facial self-massage. Japanese women have discovered that a daily skin care routine can support ageless, firm skin with definition and glow — plus the added benefit of a relaxed mind.
A regular skincare routine with a gentle massage has been proven to improve complexion, refine skin texture, and purge the skin of excess impurities. Such benefits can only be attained, however, if the massage is performed in a certain way. Be sure to follow this step-by-step guide to get the most out of your facial massage.

Basic Massage Techniques

1. Go with the Flow — Massage Motion
A perfect facial massage should be conducted in harmony with the natural flow of the muscles. Understanding your muscles with your movements improve the overall benefits of the massage.
2. Varying Sensitivity — Massage Pressure
The pressure applied in a massage should be adjusted to a level that feels comfortable. Modulate the pressure according to the varying levels of sensitivity on parts of your face. The delicate skin around the eyes requires less pressure than other parts of the face. Feel free to apply more pressure to the cheeks and facial contours.
3. Feel your Heartbeat — Massage Speed
Get the best blood circulation benefits by adjusting the speed of your massage to your heart rate. Get in sync with your pulse.

Times to Avoid Massage

Avoid massage under the following conditions:
  • When you feel physically exhausted
  • When your skin is inflamed after extensive UV exposure
  • Don’t massage parts of the skin with acne or boils, especially when inflamed or suppurating.
  • When you have a fever
  • When you have skin rashes
  • Avoid massaging areas with cuts, wounds, or bruises.

Performing the Massage

1. Use a Massage Cream

A massage cream facilitates free-form motion and prevents unwanted skin rubbing.

2. Massage Schedule

There is no need to massage your face every day. The frequency of your facial massage should agree with your skin’s condition. Begin with massages twice a week. If your skin gets too dry or begins to peel, cut back on your massages. Try to find the ideal pace for your skin by massaging more gently or spacing out your massage sessions.

Basic Massage Step-By-Step

This basic massage is simple and easy to master. Massage smoothly with gentle motions and thoroughly work your way from the forehead down to the bottom of the neck. After completing steps 1 to 7, repeat the steps in areas you feel need extra special attention.

After cleansing the face, gently towel off any water remaining on the skin. Take a walnut-sized amount of massage cream (about 3 g or 2.5 cm in diameter), warm it between the palms of both hands, and massage it onto the face.

Massage Steps

1. Cup your whole face with the palms of your hands to apply the cream.
2. Massage in a spiral motion from the center of the face outwards towards the temples.

Tip: Sync your movements with your pulse!
3. Slide the fingers outwards from the bridge of the nose to massage the upper eyelids. Slide the fingers outwards in an arc as if ironing out the fine lines at the corners of the eyes for the lower eyelids. Finish by sliding down towards the sides of the cheeks.

Tip: Be gentle! These spots are particularly delicate.
4. Slide your fingers downward along the bridge of the nose. Now, carefully move your fingers up and down along the nostrils. Around the mouth, massage above and below the lips in turn, sliding the fingers from the center outwards.

Tip: Try to lift up the corners of the mouth when working on the lower lip.
5. For the cheeks, move in a spiral direction from the jawline up to the temples.

Tip:  Don’t apply too much pressure!
6. Cup your whole face in both hands. Then, slide your hands outward towards the bottoms of the ears.

Tip: Finish off by applying light pressure with the fingers to the bottom of the ears.
7. Stroke the nape of the neck downwards towards the chest.
Finally, wipe off the cream with a tissue or rinse it off with lukewarm water.

Rejuvenation - Effects of the Massage

The benefits of this premium self-massage technique are endless. Not only do you get a natural skin lift with reduced puffiness, but toned facial muscles, better blood flow & healthier blood vessels are among the effects.
Around thirty muscles are linked together beneath the skin of the face and head. Muscle stress caused by expansions and contractions of everyday actions like eating, smiling, or frowning can zap your energy and lead to an accumulation of toxins.

Face massage - a service for men

Do you still think that facial massage is a purely female procedure? .. Then we go to you :-) Modern life dictates new images, model of behavior, perception of the world and itself in it. So, modern (especially successful) men, seeking to get from the beauty industry all that simple and necessary for the modern, rather high rhythm of life that it can give them. And one of the most frequently requested services is a massage of the face. You will ask "Why?" Firstly: Facial massage, as a rule, is not an independent procedure, but is prescribed in combination with others. There are even certain exotic body massages that necessarily include a massage of the face. Interestingly, the same body massage techniques without a massage are marked as unfinished by feelings. Conclusion: Excessive tension in the muscles of the face is felt not less than excessive tension in the muscles of the body. Second: According to statistics, men are big fans of massage than women...
